Shoen Uemura was a female Japanese painter who was active during the Meiji and Showa periods.
In 1948 (Showa 23), she became the first woman to win the Order of Cultural Merit.
Throughout her career, Shoen Uemura continued to paint pictures depicting beautiful women.
