≪ Design ≫
"Tatezuri" ("Shikanjima")
One of the Kabuki patterns, based on a Kabuki costume.
Vertical striped pattern with alternating patterns of four lines and entwined handles (handle of the costume chest of drawers).
The repeating pattern represents the hope for the ongoing future.
≪ Color ≫
Dark Green (Fukamidori)
It refers to a dark green color that has a distinct tint of black and blue.
It can also be pronounced as "Fukakimidori". It is a dark green color like the evergreen leaves.
During the Heian Period (794-1185), dyes were referred to as "fukai (deep)" when it was "koi (dark)" and as "asai (shallow)" or "awai (light)" when it was "usui (light)". That is why it is common for colors to have the prefixes of "fuka- (deep)", "asa- (shallow)" or "awa- (light)".
