≪ Design ≫
"Wheel Chrysanthemum" ("Syarin Giku")
Chrysanthemum petals are spread radially. Due to this it is often likened to the sun. This is an auspicious pattern regardless of the season. It was also taken as a herbal medicine in China to prolong life. Therefore it is thought to be associated with longevity and prolonged life.
The wheel pattern motif is derived from the wheels of ox carts that would have been ridden by members of high society in the olden days. The turning of the wheels signifies the turning and changing of things for the better.
Through the combination of the chrysanthemum and wheel motifs, both considered to bring good fortune, an auspicious pattern is created.
